Everything about Dodona Manor totally explained

Gen. George C. Marshall House, known also as Dodona Manor, is a National Historic Landmark, located in Leesburg, Virginia. It is owned by the George C. Marshall International Center, which is currently restoring the property to its Marshall era appearance.
Dadona Manor was constructed in the mid-1820s for John Dirsh. The house soon passes into the possession of the Ball family, who added an addition. There is evidence that the building served as a female boarding school in the 1850s. George C. Marshall bought the house in 1941 and lived there until his death in 1959. The Marshall's major contribution to the property was the addition of lush gardens and landscaping.
It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1996.
